Interning in Washington, DC has been a tremendous experience! Working full-time and taking classes fills much of the week, and finding time for fun on the weekend is necessary to explore the different parts of DC and to keep sanity through busyness!
This past weekend I played host to five of my best friends from Ohio State who came into DC to be the typical tourist. We explored Arlington where they were staying, and spent much of the time in Georgetown. My friends loved seeing the monuments, exploring the Smithsonian Museums (to get out of the heat for a bit), and eating at numerous local establishments.
Sunday was a day we spent in nature, as we kayaked and paddle boarded on the Potomac River in Georgetown! Though it looks easy, it is quite difficult. Once you get your balance and find the best pace for you, it is actually simple and very enjoyable. With only a little over a week left for the summer fellows, it was a nice way to spend time doing something that I cannot do everyday--especially on a river with the Washington Monument in the background.
