We made it just in time to see the first pitch being thrown
by Congressman Ron Paul. From the start of the game till the ending innings,
the game was eventful and entertaining as we watched the members run around and
get upset when they made errors. It was definitely a sight I will probably
never be able to witness again.

Batter Up
Once a year the congressional members take time out of their
busy schedules to try out for their party’s baseball team. After making the cut, the players will then schedule
practices months in advance for the big game.
This year the game fell on Thursday, June 28th and my mentor,
Lindsey Shaw, thought it would be a great first activity for us! We met up
after work and waited in the long line to get into the stadium. After entering
the stadium, people were handing out programs, foam fingers, hats and all sorts
of fun little souvenirs. They even had the food stands inside open to the
public. So after we got our souvenirs and food, we made our way to the seating
behind the Republican’s dugout.
The
night ended with a Democratic win 18-5 but before the last inning Lindsey and I
got the chance to take a picture with Ron Paul. Throughout the game, he was
sitting a couple rows in front of us and was kind enough to take pictures with
so many fans in the stands. It was such a great night and I appreciated that
Lindsey thought of the idea to go to it!
