WAIPers’ experiences described by a Spotify playlist

This is a playlist dedicated to WAIParty 2017. Peep the real thing on my Spotify profile here.

Inspired by Miley Cyrus  Interns went to Pride, where Miley played this song at a free concert.

Young Dumb & Broke by Khalid – Self explanatory.

$ave Dat Money by Lil Dicky – Washington, DC makes interns wallets hurt.

Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield – Interning in Washington, DC taught a WAIPer that a lot of people get jobs they didn't know exit. Our paths are 'unwritten' and you have to learn to go with the flow.

Wonderwall by Oasis – It’s the go to song for an intern taking over the AUX cord in an Uber.

Mine by Phoebe Ryan – An intern living in the city of his/her dreams. The most important thing he/she realizes is ‘you are your best advocate.’

Crazy In Love by Beyoncé – An intern comes to Washington, DC and finds countless fish in the sea. He/she explores the city and meets all kinds of people. Then, his/her love from home visits and it reminds him/her just how ‘crazy in love’ they really are.

I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace – An intern meets the love of their life while in Washington, DC. But days come and go and he/she remembers he/she has to go back to Ohio. So, he/she sings this song hoping to make the transition easier.

Bet On It by Zac Efron  A WAIPer is the real Troy Bolton.

One of Us by New Politics – An intern’s friends from home are missing him/her. An intern is missing them, feeling homesick. They make him/her a sweet, sappy recap video from last semester, looking forward to his/her return.

Man! I Feel Like A Woman by Shania Twain  An intern works with smart, driven women who encourage her to embrace feminism.

The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert – A WAIPer found their (future) home in Washington, DC, but he/she will always remain thankful for the house that built him/her in Ohio.

Location by Khalid – An intern sprints up the left slide of the escalator on his/her way to work and finds a man playing this song on his trumpet. He/she got to work and jammed to location with the other interns.

Praying by Kesha – A roommate shares a playlist with him/ her, reminding him/her that you have to stand up for yourself and find strength in life’s challenges.

Murder in the City by The Avett Brothers – You have to listen to this song to really understand the importance. Especially if you have siblings.

Cherry Wine by Hozier – Interns discuss policy for fun. One day, domestic abuse policy came up, so the interns talk about songs that are story telling and emotional and real.

The Climb by Miley Cyrus – ‘Life’s a climb. But the view is great.’

Rise Up by Andra Day – A WAIP Alum recommends this song to a current WAIPer, reminding him/ her to ‘rise a thousand times again.'
