A How I Met Your Mother Fan's Guide to WAIP

A How I Met Your Mother Fan's Guide to WAIP

The year 2030: Kids I’m going to tell you an incredible story…

Way back in the summer of 2017, I had the incredible opportunity to live and intern in D.C. with 32 other Ohio State students. Between the networking events and our internships, this is a story of a few things we learned:

Coming home after work to a quirky apartment you share with your friends is surprisingly charming.

In the same way you’re not a real New Yorker unless you’ve seen Woody Allen, you’re not a real D.C. local unless you’ve seen Bernie Sanders.
Katy Hogan becomes your own Barney Stinson, always encouraging you to SUIT UP and playing “Have you met __________?” with her Playbook for networking.
Looking for the perfect remedy for a smidge of homesickness?
Hunt down an Ohio State bar tucked away in D.C. and it will probably be as friendly and rowdy as the Hoser Hut. But as it happens, we found our own little MacLaren's to hang out at after a long, four-day workweek and swap stories. Though much less sophisticated, it’s arguably as good of a time.

Growing up has its perks; you get to begin a journey in pursuit of a career, finding yourself, all while making amazing friendships.

And kids, sometimes you just have to take the leap.

Slap bets are off as to where we all end up – we’ll see where the universe takes us.
